My parents were married for 54 yrs when Mama passed and they always were kind and respectful of each other. Yes, rough patches of course but stayed together. If he made her mad, the worst that happened was she sewed the legs of his boxers then neatly folded them back.😂 They always said please, thank you, I love you. They were engaged for 2 years with no sex. I miss them so much and want everyone to know it IS possible to stay together like the older crowd, we just have to respect each other! I’m so sorry for your loss. I watched a similar story firsthand with my grandparents, they both passed away from covid April 2020, married 77 years and passed about 30 hours apart. I miss them so much. Seeing your grandparents reminds me so much of mine. What a blessing for us all that you share this with us. Thank you ❤️

you can tell they were 100% themselves to one another. Maybe when you meet and get married young, that's easier. But its so sweet to see how they look and act with eachother. Its the look of someone who loves and accept their partner completely and are comfortable to be themselves around eachother. In my opinion, that's the definition of soulmates.

You know what's nice here, the grandkids looking back and giving a nod of appreciation to the grandp's while they were alive... even nicer when the grandp's are still sharp enough to receive and enjoy the nod from the next gen😊

They remind my of my grandparents! Also married 70+ years. My grandfather spent his last six years voiceless after a stroke stole his speech and he survived my cancer stricken grandmother by one year and some change. I can't even imagine his torment in not being able to console her verbally or say what went unsaid. She had the gift of gab and he was wry and stoic but very warm and compassionate. Life was never perfect, but they were perfect for each other and the only real example I had of two people whose marriage itself was like two pillars holding up a roof to shelter many. RIP to all the lovebirds that held it down.
